Steven's Apprenticeship

After finishing his level 5 apprenticeship in Operations/Departmental Manager, Steven gave us the following feedback.

Why did you choose an Apprenticeship?

The Apprenticeship allowed me to further develop as a Manager, while actively applying new skills and techniques with my Team.

What has been the most rewarding part of your apprenticeship?

I have enjoyed the Emotional and Social Intelligence elements of the course, and understanding how Organisational Culture impacts the working environment.

I was also recently invited to be a guest speaker for a group of Apprentices from a variety of different employers.

What have you taken from the apprenticeship?

Every element of the course throws up a new challenge and skill to learn. My biggest learning so far has been Emotional and Social Intelligence helping me to understand myself better.

How have you progressed or plan to progress following your apprenticeship?

I’m fortunate to be in a management post already, but I do have plans to progress into a more senior position when the opportunity arises.

Would you recommend an Apprenticeship to others?

I would recommend an Apprenticeship. This is my second Apprenticeship having undertaken my first shortly after leaving school. An Apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity to learn while remaining in full time employment and provides the opportunity to put the skills you have learnt into practice.

Any additional comments?

The Team at Skills for Work have been fantastic in offering guidance, support and additional information to aid my learning.
