Serwat Mir - Operations Management Apprenticeship – Level 5

Serwat Mir, Community Sports and Activities Development Officer CBMDC

Why did you choose an apprenticeship?

I chose an apprenticeship because I wanted a new challenge and the chance to learn new skills while working. It’s a fantastic way to gain a qualification alongside my job. I hadn’t studied in a long time, so I was nervous at first, but I was ready to take on the challenge.

What has been the most rewarding part of your apprenticeship so far?

The most rewarding part of my apprenticeship so far has been successfully completing two assignments while hitting all my deadlines. This achievement has boosted my confidence and helped me start believing in myself and my abilities. It’s been fulfilling to see my hard work and dedication pay off, showing me what I’m capable of when I stay focused and determined.

What have you taken from the apprenticeship so far?

So far, I’ve gained valuable skills, knowledge, and practical experience from my apprenticeship. I’ve learned to manage my time effectively to meet deadlines, improved my confidence in handling tasks, and developed a belief in my own abilities. It’s also taught me the importance of staying focused, being organised, and continuously learning to grow both personally and professionally.

How have you progressed or plan to progress following your apprenticeship?

My goal is to continue progressing, take on new challenges, and work towards a promotion or leadership role in the future.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

Yes, I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to others. It’s a great way to gain practical, hands-on experience while also learning the theory behind your work. Apprenticeships allow you to earn while you learn, which is a huge benefit, and they offer a supportive environment where you can develop both your skills and your confidence.

Any additional comments

Overall, my apprenticeship has been a rewarding experience for me, providing me with both professional growth and practical knowledge to excel in my role.
