Cain Lewis - CBMDC

My name is Cain Lewis, and for the past two years, I’ve been on a journey of transformation through the Level 5 Operations Departmental Manager apprenticeship programme. Embarking on this path wasn’t just about acquiring qualifications; it was about challenging myself, broadening my horizons, and, ultimately, unlocking my potential as a leader.

Before the apprenticeship, I was finding it difficult to progress as I didn’t have the qualifications for the positions I wanted to apply for. I felt stagnated and wanted to improve my writing skills, aiming for management roles. I discovered the apprenticeship programme through a principal tutor, a beacon of opportunity offering exactly what I craved. With a mix of ambition and apprehension, I leapt and embraced this new chapter.

The apprenticeship wasn’t without its hurdles, and initially, the workload felt daunting. However, I have a fantastic tutor from the Skills for Work team who tailored the learning and helped me overcome my initial struggles. As I progressed, each module was a stepping stone; I could use live projects both within and outside of the workplace, which helped me build skills and confidence; applying learning with real-world projects was great! Witnessing my portfolio grow with evidence from my work in Bradford was a significant milestone, a testament to the practical value of the apprenticeship scheme.

The apprenticeship wasn’t just a qualification; it was a catalyst. Within two years, I’ve not only completed the program but was also able to secure a promotion.

This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the skills and confidence I gained from the apprenticeship. If you’re looking for a transformative journey that equips you with practical skills, boosts your confidence, and opens doors to career advancement, look no further.
