Bradley Snowden - Duty Manager, Bradford Council

Name: Bradley Snowden - Duty Manager, Bradford Council

Apprenticeship: Level 3 Leadership & Supervision

Why did you choose and apprenticeship?

I chose to do the apprenticeship because it allowed for natural progression.  As I step up into a managerial position, I thought it would help me to develop my skills and knowledge.

What has been the most rewarding part of your apprenticeship so far?

I feel the rewarding part so far is being able to put everything I am learning into practice as I start my new role as Duty Manager.

What have you taken from the apprenticeship so far?

So far, I have learned about different learning styles and how to adapt the way I lead to suit specific needs of other staff members.  I've also learned about different skills and knowledge, especially around unconscious bias, inclusivity and culture.

How have you progressed or plan to progress following your apprenticeship?

Since starting my apprenticeship, I have progressed from my previous role as a Gym Instructor to my current position as Duty Manager.  By moving into this new role, I've been able to apply the skills and knowledge I've gained throughout the apprenticeship.  This has helped me improve my supervisory and leadership abilities, making me confident and effective in managing a team.

Would you recommend an apprenticeship to others?

I would definitely recommend this apprenticeship to anyone covering Duty Manager positions on a casual basis, leading a small team or looking to progress into a managerial role.  The programme provides valuable skills, knowledge and insights into self-awareness, as well as practical tools to improve leadership abilities.  It's an excellent way to develop both personally and professionally.
