Functional Skills English     Level: Entry 1 to level 2     Guided Learning: 50 hours

For adults who would like to improve their English skills, Skills for Work delivers courses from Entry Level to Level 2. Functional Skills qualifications will help learners to gain knowledge, confidence and fluency in English. There are three components at each level: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

Foundation (Entry 1 & Entry 2)

• Improve reading and understanding
• Participate in simple discussions
• Communicate information in words, phrases and simple sentences
• Improve your confidence

Intermediate (Entry 3- Level 1)

• Communicate opinions on a range of topics
• Understand main points of texts
• Identify organisational features
• Write in compound sentences and paragraphs

Move on (Level 2)

• Respond effectively to detailed questions
• Identify different points of view and distinguish fact from opinion
• Communicate information coherently & effectively Use different language and register
