Skills for Work Recognised for Excellence in Information, Advice and Guidance
Skills for Work is delighted to announce that it successfully achieved its Matrix Assessment in May 2026, with the assessment recognising a number of key strengths and examples of excellent practice across the service.
The Matrix Standard is a nationally recognised quality framework that assesses organisations on the effectiveness of their information, advice and guidance (IAG) services. Achieving this accreditation reflects Skills for Work's ongoing commitment to supporting learners, employers and local communities through high-quality advice, guidance and skills provision.
Suzan McGladdery, Principal, Skills for Work, said:
"Achieving Matrix re-accreditation demonstrates that Skills for Work continues to deliver high-quality information, advice and guidance that meets nationally recognised standards. It provides independent assurance of service quality, strengthens stakeholder confidence, supports our learner recruitment and retention, and evidences our commitment to continuous improvement, positive learner outcomes, progression into employment, and excellent customer service."
During the assessment, several areas of strength were highlighted, including the team's commitment to delivering professional, impartial and learner-focused support. The assessor recognised the strong culture across the service, with staff demonstrating a clear commitment to helping individuals develop their skills, confidence and career opportunities.
The assessment also recognised Skills for Work's robust approach to continuous improvement, with learner feedback, performance monitoring and service reviews all helping to shape and enhance the support available to residents.
Partnership working was identified as another key strength, with Skills for Work working closely alongside organisations including the DWP, National Careers Service, SkillsHouse and Smart Works to help individuals access the right support at the right time.
The assessor also highlighted the wide range of information, advice and guidance activities available to learners, supported by effective referral and signposting processes that help people progress into learning, employment and further opportunities.
This positive outcome reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire Skills for Work team and reinforces the organisation's commitment to delivering high-quality services that make a real difference to people's lives.
